District Improvement Plan
Published on Nov 8, 2016 15:26

Dear Millis parents, caregivers and community members,

The Millis Public Schools have made great strides in recent years, improving student achievement as well as providing a respectful and supportive culture that allows each child to flourish socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. We have been refining and implementing our vision for personalizing the educational process over the past nine years: In Millis, we honor each student as an individual learner, recognizing that each student has his or her own learning styles, interests, passions, challenges to learning, strengths and skill levels.  We engage, support and challenge all students through varied instructional approaches that help students take ownership of their learning.  Students are afforded voice, choice and flexibility in how they learn and are allowed to demonstrate their understanding in various ways to improve student well-being and ensure that they are “future ready”.

Each year we strive to improve our schools so that more students reach greater growth. We are proud of our accomplishments (see the MPS highlights attached below for recent awards and recognitions) and those of our students but are constantly working on ways to improve. Each year the district and schools develop aligned Improvement Plans that representa comprehensive, cohesive approach to continuous improvement. These are presented to School Committee each year. (see the link below for the presentation on Oct. 4th). The documents below and those on each school's website provide a blueprint to focus all staff on the education and well-being of our students. We consider educating and helping our students to grow an almost sacred mission with which we are entrusted. It is our pleasure to be a part of providing an excellent education for the children in Millis.  Please feel free to contact me or any of the school Principals if you would like more information.
