Letter from Mrs. Jango

Dear CFB Families,

As Superintendent Mullaney mentioned in his earlier correspondence, the events of last night shocked the nation. Mr. Mullaney mentioned, “Millis will be addressing or not addressing the events in age appropriate ways.” At the preschool and elementary level, we will not be discussing last night’s events as a school, in classroom discussions, lessons, or open circles.  This decision was made in order to protect those students who were not exposed and do not have knowledge of the situation.

From the research conducted, going about a typical daily routine will be the most helpful to students.  Children are reassured by predictable schedules, activities, and maintaining structure. Any conversations surrounding this event will be gently acknowledged and the students will be redirected into a learning activity.

For any students who are having difficulty and wish to speak more about the events, our school counselors will be available to process with those students individually and parents will be notified if that occurs. If you feel your child will need additional support, please contact the office directly (508) 376-7003.

Students will be encouraged to speak to adults at home or counselors at school, rather than engage in conversations with other students while at school.

Thank you for your understanding and support during this unprecedented time.  Should you wish to speak with me directly, please contact the office (508) 376-7003.

Sincerely,

Tanna Jango

Principal
