The Events of January 6, 2021
Published on Jan 7, 2021 02:16

Dear Families,

The events of January 6, 2021 have shaken our democratic institutions.  The attack on the US Capitol by US citizens was shocking to all who witnessed it.

As a number of our students have most likely observed the events of yesterday, they may be feeling anxious and scared.  The most important thing we will be doing in our schools and classrooms is affirming to students that they are in a safe place.  How the topic is addressed or not addressed will be handled in an age-appropriate way and counselors will be ready to assist those students who need support.  Please do not hesitate to contact your child's school if you have any particular concerns.

A number of resources are attached with this message that might be of assistance to you as you process these events with your child.

I am confident that our democracy is resilient and will survive this event and we will move forward.  It is my hope that we as a community can support our students and provide them with positive examples of civic responsibility and discourse.

Sincerely,
Bob Mullaney
