Superintendent Candidate Forum - Thursday October 8, 2020 6pm-9pm

The School Committee invites you to attend our Superintendent Candidate public forum this Thursday (October 8th) from 6-9pm.  This will be a virtual event conducted via zoom conference (link below).  Each candidate is scheduled for an hour block of time.  In that hour, they will share information about themselves and what interests them about becoming Superintendent in Millis.  In addition, we are asking you, the public, to submit questions in advance.  The candidates will address the questions provided.  If you have a specific question or topic you would like the candidates to address, please e-mail [email protected] prior to the forum.  All questions/topics submitted prior to the event will be addressed, time permitting. 


Below is a brief bio of each of the candidates (listed in order of appearance on Thursday): 

6-7pm

Robert Mullaney, M.Ed., Principal, Millis High School


Mr. Mullaney is entering his 14th year as a high school principal. Prior to 2007. He spent 20 years as a teacher and three years as the assistant principal in Hingham.  As a principal, he has worked to expand Advanced Placement opportunities, focused on social and emotional learning, and created a culture of high expectations and student achievement.  He has also built an expanding network of professional and community colleagues including the Norfolk County District Attorney’s community roundtable. He has also served on seven accreditation teams for NEASC. An Assumption College graduate, Mullaney holds two Masters Degrees which were awarded by UMass-Boston in secondary education, and Endicott in organizational management. 


7-8pm

Maureen McCallion Cohen, Ed.D., Assistant Superintendent, Mendon-Upton Regional School District


Dr. Cohen has spent over 20 years in education as a teacher, building administrator, and district leader and has worked in urban and suburban settings. In 2012, she was named MA Assistant Principal of the Year.  She has been a frequent presenter at educational conferences and has provided professional development in many other districts. She has focused, among other topics on transformational leadership.  Dr. Cohen has also served as an elected member of the Grafton School Committee.  She is a graduate of  Bowdoin College and obtained her graduate degrees at Northeastern University


8-9pm

Scott C. Holcomb, M.A.T., C.A.G.S., Superintendent, North Attleborough Public Schools


Mr. Holcomb has served as high school principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent of the North Attleborough Public Schools.  He is completing his fourth year as the superintendent. In addition, he spent eleven years as a teacher and three as an administrator in Bellingham, Hopkinton, and Seekonk. Throughout his career he has been successful in securing grant funding, moving his district into “Level 1” status, and expanding access to Advanced Placement coursework for students. He earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Bridgewater State University, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study from Boston College, and is working on his doctorate from the University of New England
