Millis High School Start of School Information
Published on Aug 20, 2020 22:41

Good evening,

As most of you are aware, we will be beginning our school year remotely on Wednesday, September 16.  Our hope is that after a few weeks of remote learning we will begin to get students back into school in a hybrid phase (some in-person, some remote learning), and eventually back to completely in-person learning.  The attached document describes our remote learning schedule and includes the daily class schedule for the 2020-2021 school year.  We are still working on individual student schedules and will get those out to students once they are completed.  To make sure classes can be conducted safely when we get to in-person learning, class sizes have been limited to no more than 24 students.  When we go to the hybrid learning phase, students will be divided into two cohorts, one that will meet in person on Mondays and Tuesdays and the other on Thursdays and Fridays.  This will mean class sizes for the cohorts meeting in person will be about 12 students.  All students will learn remotely on Wednesdays during the hybrid phase.

I hope you and your family are able to enjoy the last days of summer before school starts.  It will certainly be different from any other start of school we've ever had.  It will be more important than ever for students to focus and keep up with their school work right from the start.  It will also be important for the school and families to work together to help our students succeed.  All of us at Millis High School are excited to welcome our students back this fall.

More information on orientation days (September 14 and 15), student schedules, student remote learning expectations, and other important policies and procedures for the beginning of school will be forthcoming.

I know this school year begins with many uncertainties and questions.  Please know that we are working hard to address the myriad issues and concerns that come with remote, hybrid, and in-person learning.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Best wishes for a successful 2020-2021 school year,

Bob Mullaney
Principal
