Important Survey for Fall Re-opening of School
Published on Jun 30, 2020 14:19

Dear Millis Families,
Recent guidance from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has provided us with information to use when planning for the re-opening of school this  September. (See https://drive.google.com/file/d/19zq_q5E3epHVxgujwT_mO7qhkVp2IF2r/view) The guidance indicates:
  • Current medical research supports a safe in-person return to school - with an array of preventive measures in place - as infection and transmission rates are lower for children than adults.
  • Preventive measures include masks/face coverings, physical distancing, hand-washing, keeping students in cohorts as much as possible, and increased cleaning of frequently touched surfaces
  • Masks/face coverings will be required for all students in Grade 2 and above and for all adults; they are recommended for students in Grade 1 and below
  • Based upon current medical research, and in conjunction with other preventive measures, a minimum physical distance of three feet has been established
Please help us with our planning by completing the survey below, one for each child. More detailed guidance is expected in Mid-July and we send that to you and develop another survey based on that information.

Thank you very much for your continued patience and understanding while we plan to ensure that the Fall Re-opening is safe and supportive for your children!
My best,
Nancy Gustafson
