3 week closure through April 7th
Published on Mar 15, 2020 20:38

As you have probably heard, Governor Baker announced this evening that schools throughout the state will be closed through April 7. Superintendents will have a conference call tomorrow to clarify some things that are still unclear. We all have many questions about how this will play out and there are a lot of moving parts at this time. This is uncharted territory and we appreciate that it may cause anxiety and that you all have many questions! We will do our best to get answers as quickly as possible.
Of utmost importance is making sure our Millis students and their families who qualify for free and reduced lunches have access to the breakfasts and lunches that they rely on. Shawn Fallon and staff have "Grab and Go" food available at the Middle High School cafeteria.  If you know of a family that has need but might not quite meet federal guidelines for Free and Reduced lunches, please let us know and we will make sure they also get those meals.
Next, you will of course wonder how we will educate students during this time. Prior to the Governor's press conference Superintendents had a conference call with Commissioner Riley and he indicated that DESE will be working to provide us with guidance and resources for local districts. We may know more tomorrow or by Tuesday. Again, as soon as I know I will communicate that with you so please make sure you have signed up for the lsiterve for your school(s) on our website.
As a parent with two teenagers still at home, I can only imagine the challenges that our staff and families with young children are facing! We all will work together to make it through this. I am already amazed at the Millis families that have reached out to me to make donations so that others can continue to receive meals! I suggest you make a donation to the Millis Ecumenical Food Pantry. Small Town, Big Family!
Please take care of yourselves, your loved ones, and neighbors. These times show us what we are really made of. I will continue to send out information as I know it.
My best,
Nancy Gustafson
