MHS Update

Good afternoon,
I wanted to let families know that I met with all students today in their English classes to talk about our status relative to COVID-19, our response, possible scenarios, and to answer any questions. Basically my message to the students was that we are trying as much as possible to have a normal routine to our school day with classes continuing as scheduled. There have been some cancellations of field trips and events that would bring in people from outside the community to our school over the next week or so (next week, we will revisit events scheduled later in the month). Students were also reminded of healthy habits that limit the spread of germs such as washing hands and staying home from school when sick. I also spoke about the fluid nature of the situation. We are getting news and information quickly and sometimes plans change fast. Again, it is our hope that we continue with normal school functioning, but we will be ready if other measures are needed to address COVID-19 concerns. You may have heard of some other schools in the area canceling school for cleaning or other reasons. At this time, we feel we do not have to do that, but of course this could change.
I'd like to thank everyone in the community for their patience during this situation. Our attendance at the high school has been excellent since we've returned from February break. Students are demonstrating an awareness of not spreading germs. We don't want to panic, but want to respond in an appropriate way, based on best practices and reliable information. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the situation, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone or email.
Sincerely,
Bob Mullaney
Principal
