List serve message-11-19-18- Inclement Weather Info
Published on Nov 19, 2018 13:18

Dear Millis Parents,

The weather always makes this part of the year interesting in New England! The Millis Public Schools will continue to use the School Messenger system to call households for school cancellations, delays or early closings. Additionally, we post the information on our website and send it out through the schools’ list-serves. You can sign up for the list-serve on our website. As always, no news is good news and school is opening on time.

Information will be posted at these sites:

• DISTRICT WEBSITE: www.millisps.org

• SCHOOLS’ E-MAIL LISTSERV

• School Messenger: If the timing is appropriate, a call may be made to the phone numbers we

have on file for you. Please make sure we have updated information!

• TV STATIONS: Channel 4 (WBZ), Channel 5 (WCVB), Channel 7 (WHDH), Channel 25 and NECN

• Twitter @ nlgustafson

Preschool:

If school is delayed, there will be no morning Pre-School. In the event that we must close school early the afternoon Pre-School program will also be cancelled.

Extended Day Program:

Please note that the Extended Day programs also close when school closes. If school is delayed by an hour or two Extended Day programs will be delayed for the same timeframe. (Please refer to your Extended Day Handbook on the website for additional information.)  In the event that we must close school early in the afternoon, there will be no Extended Day After School Program.  If school is a full day, but all afterschool activities are cancelled, Extended Day will remain open, but we ask that you make every effort to pick up your children as early as possible so that you all get home safely and we can get our staff home safely as well.

We will endeavor to make the decision to close or delay school prior to 5:30 A.M. in order to give you time to make arrangements for your children.  All decisions are made in consultation with the Millis Department of Public Works and Millis Police and are based on road conditions, school building and parking lot conditions, accumulation of snow/ice, and the expected duration of the precipitation. I also consult with other local school district superintendents. Our overriding concern is always the safety of our students.

Thank you for your cooperation.

 Best regards,

Nancy L. Gustafson

Superintendent
