2017-18 Scheduling for Current Grades 9-11

This morning, Millis High's School Counselors, Mark Awdycki and Riley Stevens, handed out the Program of Studies to students in grades 9-11 and explained the process of course selection for the 2017-18 school year (you can also view the Program of Studies online at http://hs.millisps.org/information/program_of_studies).  Students will be choosing their classes through the course registration area in PowerSchool.  Teacher recommendations have been made and are posted in the course registration area of each individual student's PowerSchool account.  The system is now open for students to enter their course selections.

The school counselors will still be meeting with students individually in their English classes to ensure they are taking appropriate schedules and meeting graduation requirements.  These meetings will occur with juniors on April 3rd and 4th, sophomores on April 4th, 5th and 7th, and freshmen on April 6th and 7th.  The English teachers will be informing the students when their day for course selection is.  Courses need to be selected in the PowerSchool system prior to that meeting.  It is critical that you review your student's course selections with him/her and that they are completed on time for the meeting with the school counselor.  The course selection system will be shutdown for outside access when the scheduling period is over for each class.

As in the past, if you have questions about the courses your son/daughter was recommended for, please have your son/daughter speak to their individual teacher or feel free to contact the teacher yourself.  Each teacher makes course recommendations after a great deal of time and consideration with the best interests of the students at heart.  If you have any further questions about the scheduling process, please do not hesitate to contact the School Counseling office at 508-376-7023.  We look forward to working with you through the course selection process.

Regards,

Mark Awdycki and Riley Stevens
