CFB School Community Update - September 9, 2016
Published on Sep 9, 2016 19:08

Thanks to All for a Smooth Start to School!

Many thanks to all families for their part in creating a smooth start to the school year!  Morning traffic in the Spring Street lot has been moving right along, and students seem to be comfortable with new routines for pick up, drop off and riding the bus!  Our students are cheerful and excited – we appreciate your efforts to promote this enthusiasm at home!

Thank you to all our families for your patience with late buses due to new routes and new drivers being trained – we are noticing that buses arrive on time at school now in the morning and leaving the school in a more reasonable time frame each afternoon.  The first days are hardest to gauge, with new stops and new students riding the bus; we appreciate your patience as we tighten up routines!

Thank You, HSA Beautification Committee and Volunteers!

When walking the school grounds, be sure to notice the handiwork of the HSA Beautification Committee!  This group of tireless volunteers spent some of the “dog days of August” creating a beautiful outside school setting for our school community to enjoy on our return to school.  Many thanks, Beautification Committee and volunteers – WE APPRECIATE YOUR HARD WORK!!

Dog Walkers on School Property:  A Reminder

In adherence with Town of Millis bylaws, dogs may not be present on school property during the hours of school operation.  For reasons of safety and anxiety in small children (who can be afraid of dogs), we ask all residents to abide by posted signs and limit their walking of dogs to areas other than the school property.  Thank you so much for your understanding and your attention to this important concern.

Spring Street Parking Lot Reminder

Last year, the staff at CFB voluntarily adjusted their parking patterns to make more parking spaces available for families as they drop off students in the morning and pick up in the afternoon.  In the afternoon, I would remind families to please do not park in the travel lane if you wish to exit your vehicle to collect your children – when vehicles block incoming traffic in the travel lane, this contributes to overall congested traffic during pick up time, as well as safety issues for students and families.  Instead, please park in the available spaces in the lot provided for this purpose – you’re welcome to use the crosswalks to wait for students on the hardtop near the school.  Thank you for your efforts to help our school community operate more smoothly and for your attention to the safety of our students and families!
