Did you know

The Haunted Hayride at Tangerini’s Farm is a fundraising event for the Millis Public Schools and is put on every year - for the past 15 years - by MERIT volunteers and a crew of dedicated individuals willing to donate their time and talent?

MERIT has granted over $300,000 in funds to Millis Public school teachers, administrators, staff and volunteers since its establishment in 1991. We have provided funds for items your children use everyday in the classroom: Smart Boards, Blue Bots robots, an Aquaponics lab, Books for Battle of the Books, Yoga and Wellness Programs, equipment for the Media programs, the VR Labs for all schools, for the new High School Engineering Program kicking off this fall, and so much more?

MERIT is a non-profit organization run completely by volunteers?

It is with great regret that we inform our community that MERIT may need to dissolve as an organization. Last evening MERIT had our annual meeting and did not have enough members to vote in an Executive Board. We are at a critical point. A decision will be made at our August meeting to either dissolve, cancel the Hayride and split our remaining funds between the three schools, or, as we dearly hope, to continue as an organization. But we need you! More volunteer help is the only way we can keep going and fulfill our mission of supporting innovation in the Millis Public Schools.

There are many ways to help:

If you can spare an hour a month to meet with us and help us make sure we are doing everything we can as an organization to help our schoolchildren we’d love to have you.

If you can’t do that but can spend an hour a month and help from home with our marketing or our website, we’d love to have you.

If you can’t do that but you can help a few times a year with our letter writing campaign, we’d love to have you.

If you can’t do that but you can help in October with our Haunted Hayride, we’d love to have you.

If you can’t do that but you know someone who can do any of those things, we’d love your assistance getting in touch with them.

You do not need to have children who go to Millis schools, you just need to live in our town and care about the future of our kids.
