Preparedness for Municipal Vulnerability
Published on Jan 3, 2019 15:33

Dear Millis Community,

Millis is about to go through a major planning exercise on January 8th and your participation would be very important. The Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness plan (MVP) will allow the Town to be eligible for major grants to fund projects that will prevent damage from the severe weather events of climate change, which are becoming ever more frequent.

We felt that since so much of the damage done by these events involve our Town’s infrastructure, environment, businesses and vulnerable residents, and because the state prefers nature-based solutions when possible, that you would have an interest in contributing. I would strongly encourage Town and School committee members to attend or send a representative to this one-time opportunity.

Here is a link to the state website that describes the process.

The Town of Millis and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council cordially invite you to participate in preparing and protecting our community through a Community Resilience Building Workshop.

Climate Community Resilience Building Workshop
When: Tuesday, January 8, 2019
(Snow Date January 10, 2019)
Where: Millis Public Library
961 Main Street
Millis, MA 02054

Lunch and refreshments will be served.

The Workshop will bring together community members like you to reduce risk and improve climate resilience. It is a participatory event where your local knowledge and expertise will:
  • Evaluate strengths and vulnerabilities of Residents, infrastructure, and natural resources.
  • Create an action plan to protect citizens, neighborhoods, and businesses.
  • Prioritize climate actions most important to you and Millis.

Please RSVP for the Workshop by January 3, 2019 to Darci Schofield at

On behalf of the MVP Core Team members, thank you. I look forward to seeing you at the Workshop!
