Reminders from the nurse about screenings and EpiPens

Dear Middle and High School Parents/guardians,

Starting next week I will be begin state mandated screening for grades 5th - 10th. The screening will be held throughout the month of November -December and will start with the 5th and 6th grade. The 5th grade will have postural and vision screening. The 6th, 8th and 9th grade will have postural screenings only. The 7th grade will have vision, hearing, height, weight and postural screening. The 10th grade will have vision, hearing, height and weight done. I will be explaining to the 5th grade class what to expect when we do the postural screening. All of the students will be screened individually. I ask that all girls wear a tank top or sports bra the day they are due to be screened. This type of clothing allows more accurate observation of the back. I will begin with 5th grade and that screening will take place on 11/2/18.

The purpose of the postural (scoliosis) screening is to find early signs of possible spinal problems in children grades 5th-9th. If I have any concerns I will notify you. If your child has already been screened by your doctor and you wish to opt out of this or any other screening, please email me directly. If you have any questions, please contact me at 508 376-7009.

*EpiPen Reminder-

If your child has an EpiPen for an allergy and you have not already done so please send in an order for the EpiPen from their provider. Even if they carry their EpiPen on them during the school day I will still need a copy of their order.

Thank you,

Lynn Molinari
