Information from the Middle/High School:

While the following information below is not necessarily pertinent to elementary school students, it is important for families to be informed about events and information from the middle and high school:

Screenagers and the Truth About Vaping. Millis Public Schools and M.E.R.I.T invite parents and community members to view the Screenagers Documentary, followed by a presentation by CARON Treatment Centers’ Student Assistance Program: The Truth About Vaping. The program will also begin with a special presentation by the Millis Police Department and the SAFE Coalition: “Hidden In Plain Sight.” These presentations will take place tonight, Wednesday 5/23 in the MHS Auditorium from 5-8:30pm.

The middle and high school also has communicated to families information about the Netflix Series: 13 Reasons Why. Season 2 of the series began last Friday. Attached is the handout from the middle and high school about this series. 13 Reasons Sequel Notification

For elementary students one of the most significant take away from these topics is to ensure that parents are monitoring what children are watching and witnessing through electronic media (tablet, IPad, computer, television, etc) and processing with them.

Please be aware of what your children are watching. The link to set parental controls for Netflix is:  https://help.netflix.com/en/node/24805

Our school counseling staff are available to support students and families at any time.

End-of-Year Reminder - Food Free CFB

Due to the growing number of students with food-related allergies, we will strictly adhere to our standing protocol of CFB being a "food free celebration" school.  As we remind CFB staff about this need, it is important for our entire school community to know that our protocol includes:

•    No sharing of snacks/lunches, ever! - please reinforce this with students

•    No distribution of popsicles, ice pops, or any other frozen treats to any student at CFB - this includes field days and other end-of-year celebrations

•    Food-free rewards - food/candy/treats cannot be given out to CFB students as rewards or incentives; the CFB school community will use alternatives like an additional choice time, game time, extra recess, etc., in place of food rewards

Thank you for your attention to this measure that will protect all students with food allergies!
