Listserve message for 05-11-18-Pertussis Diagnosis

Dear Parents and Guardians:
This email is just to inform you that a student in the high school has a confirmed diagnosis of Pertussis. Pertussis ("whooping cough") is a bacterial infection that can spread through the air when people cough. Symptoms of pertussis resemble a cold with a significant cough. Pertussis is contagious, but children receive a booster vaccination (Tdap) before entering the 7th grade. I have attached a fact sheet on Pertussis from the Mass DPH with more information. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Lynn Molinari
