Request for assistance from the Town Hall and Library
Published on Dec 21, 2017 13:14

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Guardians,

We have been contacted by the Town Library and Town Hall to seek your assistance in addressing some concerns about the behavior of Millis youth on release days, vacation periods and other times that the youth are using the Library, Town Hall gymnasium or other public buildings in our community.  They report many instances of unsupervised youth damaging these public spaces, being careless with trash, playing music too loudly, damaging books and Town Hall property, running around and misbehaving.  We have discussed this with our students and let them know that respect for others and respect for the property of others are values that we insist upon in school and expect them to behave similarly in public, even if unsupervised. The Library and Recreation Department have asked that we send out this information to let you, as parents and caregivers, know that your children may lose the privilege of using these facilities if this poor behavior continues.

We ask that you please discuss this situation with your children, especially if they are in these public buildings without your supervision. Please make sure that your children are aware of your expectations for proper behavior throughout the community. We would be very disappointed to hear of any student losing privileges due to inappropriate behavior. Thank you all for you support in this united effort to keep a respectful environment in all of Millis' public buildings.

My best,

Nancy Gustafson, Superintendent
