Superintendent's District Goals

The district goals presented to School Committee during the December 1, 2009 meeting are a continuation of the three-year plan first presented last year. The goals build upon the successes of major K-12 initiatives to increase the rigor and relevance of the education of Millis students: Core Academics, Stretch Learning, Learner Engagement, and developing crucial 21st Century Skills: critical thinking and creative problem solving, communication and collaboration skills and the “life and career skills” of productivity, self-direction and responsibility, cross-cultural awareness, leadership and adaptability.

We are addressing these areas through requiring more writing across the curriculum, through the collaborative Professional Learning Communities process, and through integrating technology in effective ways. We in Millis, school and community members alike, emphasize development of life and leadership skills through a culture of hard work and effort and a commitment to social responsibility. Our students embody those attributes.
